What’s so special about Bonsai Plants

Bonsai trees are a popular and fascinating hobby for many people around the world. These miniature trees are grown in small containers and trained to grow into intricate shapes and designs to replicate a larger tree. This makes them a beautiful and unique design plant for any home. At Plaza Hollandi we have a vast array of Bonsai varieties available for delivery in Qatar.

Bonsai trees have been cultivated for over a thousand years, originating in China and later spreading to Japan. The art of bonsai involves shaping and pruning trees to create a miniature version of their full-grown counterparts. Bonsai trees were originally created by Buddhist monks who used them to decorate their temples and as a form of meditation. Today they are enjoyed by so many people as a piece of art in your home, office or business.

Types of Bonsai Trees

There are many different types of bonsai trees, each with their own unique characteristics and requirements. Some popular types of bonsai trees include Japanese Maple Bonsai, Chinese Elm Bonsai, Ficus Bonsai, Juniper Bonsai, Pine Bonsai tree and the much loved outdoor Olive Bonsai Tree.

Japanese Maple Bonsai is one of the most favoured varieties of bonsai. Loved for its deep red leaves and delicate appearance this bonsai favours the outdoors and is often found in Japanese inspired garden designs. Chinese Elm is a hardy resilient bonsai variety that is a favourite with beginners. The Chinese Elm and Ficus Bonsai are perfect as an indoor bonsais for your home.

The Olive Bonsai, available at our plant nursery, is a grand and beautiful bonsai tree, perfect for your garden. This stunning large bonsai tree can be as old as 300 years and shows off its beautiful long branches each with a touch of olive leaves at the bottom. The olive bonsai is ideal for a grand driveway or a centrepiece plant for your garden that will be the talk of all your visitors. For more information on the Olive Bonsai plant please contact Samer from our Plant Nursery.

How to grow and care for your indoor Bonsai Trees

How to look after your Bonsai Trees

Once you have your beautiful Bonsai plant at home you may want to know some tips and tricks on how to look after your indoor plant. Here are some of the main things to remember when looking after your Bonsai tree to help them grow and keep their shape.

Bonsai trees are easy to look after and very rewarding if you take note of the basics. Watering, fertilisation and placement. These indoor trees are planted in small pots with limited space. That means that you need to water and fertilise your tree regularly to ensure your tree will strive.

Watering your Bonsai Tree

Bonsai trees need moist (not wet) soil all of the time. It is ok if the soil dries out a little bit before watering, but do not let the Bonsai tree completely dry out. It will be very hard to revive if this happens as the roots may have dried out completely. We would recommend watering your bonsai once a week or so. One way you can do this is to immerse your bonsai plant in a bucket or basin of water. Once the air bubbles have risen to the top the bonsai has absorbed enough water. In the hot summer it is likely you will need to water your Bonsai more often.

Bonsai plants also need humidity to stay healthy. Too much humidity and the tree may begin to show signs of yellowing of the leaves and mildew and the foliage may begin to droop. 40%-50% humidity is the ideal range. To keep your bonsai feeling the signs of humidity we would recommend spritzing your Bonsai every few days in Summer and less frequently in the winter.

Are Bonsai trees lucky?

Bonsai trees are often associated with qualities such as beauty, patience and harmony. In many cultures, they are considered to be a symbol of good luck, longevity and prosperity. Making them a perfect gift to send to a loved one for their graduation, birthday or as a wedding present.

In Japanese culture, Bonsai trees are highly regarded and are believed to bring good fortune, especially when they are well cared for and thrive. They are often seen as a representation of nature and the balance between man and the natural world.

In Feng Shui, the ancient Chinese art of harmonising energy in the environment, bonsai trees can be used to attract positive energy, wealth, and luck when placed strategically in certain areas of a home or office. The shape and form of the bonsai tree, as well as its placement, are important factors in determining future success.

These beautiful plants are a perfect choice to send to your loved ones for a very special occasion. For more information to find out the varieties of bonsai we have in stock contact our garden centre.
